Equipment & Capabilities

Southrock Engineering combines U.S.-based engineering expertise with in-house design and assembly services to support PCBA, reverse engineering for PCBA, and custom cable & wire assemblies. Below is a plain‑language overview of the equipment we use every day—what it is, what it does, and why it matters for your project.

SMT & PCB Assembly Equipment

DEK 265Lt – Solder Paste Screen Printer

What it does: Applies solder paste to bare printed circuit boards before components are placed.

Why it matters: Accurate, repeatable paste deposition is critical for reliable solder joints. This printer supports consistent SMT assembly quality across prototypes and production runs.

JUKI KE 750E – SMT Pick and Place Machine

What it does: Places surface‑mount components onto PCBs quickly and accurately.

Worth Noting:

  • Mid‑range, flexible SMT pick‑and‑place system
  • 3‑head design with laser alignment
  • Placement speeds of approximately 6,000–9,000 components per hour (CPH)

Why it matters: Ideal for flexible production, mixed component boards, and jobs that require accuracy without sacrificing efficiency.

JUKI KE 2060RE – High Speed SMT Pick and Place Machine

What it does: High-speed placement of a wide range of SMT components, including fine‑pitch and IC devices.

Worth Noting:

  • Multi‑nozzle laser head (typically 4–6 nozzles)
  • Advanced vision systems
  • Handles components from 0201 (0402 optional) up to 33.5 mm square, including ICs
  • Placement speeds of approximately 12,500–13,200 CPH

Why it matters: Enables fast, precise assembly for higher‑volume PCBA while maintaining placement accuracy across diverse component types.

Wire, Cable & Harness Processing Equipment

IDEAL Wire Processor

What it does: Automates wire cutting, stripping, and preparation.

Why it matters: Ensures clean, consistent wire processing—especially important for repeatable cable assemblies and harness builds.

Schleuniger MultiStrip 9480 – Automatic Cut & Strip Machine

What it does: Fully automatic cutting and stripping of wires and cables.

Worth Noting:

  • Processes single‑conductor, multi‑conductor, and shielded cables

Why it matters: Supports complex cable assemblies with tight tolerances and repeatability across production runs.

Schleuniger UniCrimp 100 – Benchtop Crimping Press

What it does: Crimps terminals onto stripped wires.

Worth Noting:

  • Processes stripped wires up to 6 mm² (10 AWG)
  • Compatible with industry‑standard mini‑style applicators
  • Delivers up to 20 kN (2.2 tons) of crimping force

Why it matters: Produces consistent, high‑quality crimps that meet industry standards for electrical and mechanical reliability.

Molex ETC Pneumatic Press

What it does: Pneumatic press for solderless electrical terminations.

Worth Noting:

  • Designed for Molex Electronic Terminations (ETC)
  • Supports industry‑standard connectors including:
  • Ring, spade, and hook crimp terminals
  • Male and female quick‑disconnect connectors (insulated or partially insulated)

Why it matters: Enables secure, repeatable terminations for industrial wiring and cable assemblies.

Soldering, Rework & Repair

custom circuit board assembly soldering and prototyping
Solder & Rework Station

What it does: Combines traditional soldering and hot‑air rework tools.

Worth Noting:

  • Used for removing and replacing surface‑mount devices (SMD)
  • Precise temperature and airflow control

Why it matters: Essential for PCBA rework, repairs, prototyping, and reverse engineering efforts.
